A Little Bit of Italy

Hello,

As soon as I saw this blouse it reminded me of the late, Italian designer, Gianni Versace.  He was famous for his bold-baroque style prints that instantly gave it's wearers the look of luxury.  Well, I don't have Versace money but like most expensive clothing items, somewhere out there is a look for less.  I initially thought I would pair this blouse with a nude leatherette mini skirt.  However, once I put the two together, the look just didn't do it for me.  Soooo, when all else fails, throw on a pair of jeans and up the accessories.  The necklace is a treasure I found on clearance in Express years ago and looks just as great with a black turtleneck and blazer.  As for the boots, you can never go wrong with a pair of leather black booties.  They can be worn with jeans, mini skirts, pencil skirts, shorts, and the list goes on.  I don't know if you can tell, but the heel has silver coating on the lower half.  I love them.  The fact that they are super comfortable is all the better.  So there you have it...A Little Bit of Italy from me to you.  Until next time...

Black Friday

Hello My Friends,

Now that the holiday weekend has come to an end, it's back to business as usual.  Today's attire is a quick post of what I wore for a day of shopping and spending time with family in Columbus and Atlanta, GA.  In the past, I have gone shopping in outfits that are cute but are totally not idea for comfort or trying on clothing.  Since I knew that I may be doing alot of walking and clothe shopping, I planned accordingly.  The jeans work because they are stretchy, providing ease of movement, and can quickly be pulled on/off.  The shirt is casual but still brings something special to the table with the polka dots against the pink jeans.  By now, I'm sure you guys know how much I love this denim shirt.  I had to buy this one in order to give the other one a break. Lastly, the shoes work well for two reasons.  One, the chunky heel provides extra comfort and support.  Two, although they lace up in the front, the side-zipper allows these babies to be pulled on/off in the blink of an eye.  So there you have it.  My outfit that I wore for Black Friday shopping...  stylish and comfortable...the perfect combination.  What more can a girl ask for?

Booties & Bows

Hello All,

I love tights.  They are so fun to play with and can add a little sugar and spice to an ensemble.  I bought these over a year ago from one of THE best websites, ASOS, and finally decided to give them a try.  They are definitely weekend-wear as I don't think my employer would allow me in the door with these.  However, they are interesting and nothing too serious, which is what makes fashion fun.  One last thing, if you want to get more wear out of your shorts, throw on a pair of tights underneath and some boots or booties and you are good to go through the Fall and Winter.  Warning: The material should be something that can transition into the cooler months, which would eliminate linen, seersucker, and other lightweight cottons.  Of course, this is just my opinion and if it something else works for you...Go For It.  Have a great week.

P.S. I promise to change handbags on the next post.  I've just been too lazy to switch it up.

Spot Check

Hello All,

I bought this sleeveless peplum top at H&M toward the end of the summer.  It came in the same collection as these pants and while I'm sure some fashionable lady can pull the shirt and pants off together, I wasn't going there.  I loved each piece separately and thankfully the affordable prices allowed me to buy both.  However, because I'm not really in love with sleeveless shirts, this blouse works better for me under a blazer.  In the future, I'll to try to pair it with a long sleeve shirt underneath in an effort to get more wear out of it.  Lastly, the forest green blazer is another hot color for the Fall.  The conservativeness of the blazer toned down the bold print of my shirt, making it easy work wear.  Have a great week everyone.

Animal Instinct

Hello All,

Sometimes the simplest outfits get the most fuss.  This outfit was nothing special to me but I swear I got more compliments than when I really think I'm looking fab. Lol.  Everything I'm wearing, even the blazer, is denim except, of course, the shoes.  The good thing about it is that all the pieces are lightweight.  There is nothing more uncomfortable than wearing heavy pieces of clothing.  Because I'm so short, I don't really buy too many flat shoes.  If I do, they have to really catch my eye.  These leopard print oxfords from Steve Madden did just that.  Since they are such a stand-out item, I made sure that the remainder of my outfit was toned down.  My favorite part about these shoes are the red-trimmed sole.  Another treasure found at Ross.  Have a good weekend folks.  P.S. Check out the different ways that I wore my denim shirt here and here.

Destination...Burgundy

Hello All,

If you guys/gals are Bakers Shoes shoppers then you may or may not be aware that they are phasing out their H by Halston line.  This is their higher-end brand of shoes that are absolutely fierce.  These shoes are known for their platforms, studs, spikes, vibrant colors, and the list goes on.  I am sad to see it go but I won't complain about the sale.  I love this pair, Elsie, because the colors...burgundy and burnt orange...scream Fall Fashion.  However, my favorite pair by this line can be seen in this post.  Little did I know that this necklace from H&M and the gold detailing on the ankle strap would be a perfect match with the Elsie.  I am a big fan of gold jewelry and accessories.  In my opinion, it goes much better than silver with my darker skin.  If you guys want a pair of "notice me" heels, try to snag a pair from the H by Halston line before they are gone.  I sold a ton of clothes to Plato's Closet yesterday and guess where I'm going today.  Yep...I'm headed to Bakers Shoes.  Until next time...

Elbow Patches & Riding Boots

Hello All,

For a few days we experienced a cool spell here in Texas and I was actually a little bit excited.  However, so much for that because it's back into the 80's.  Fall is not really Fall with these type of temperatures.  Anyhow, I am wearing one of my favorite blazers from H&M.  The material is soft, the color goes with everything, and the elbow patches just take it over the top.  Tip for H&M blazer shoppers...stock up during the Spring/Summer Clearance sales because they mark them down tremendously. They usually restock this blazer every Fall but I have not seen it this year.  H&M made a male version of this blazer and it is just as awesome.  I love to see guys in elbow-patch blazers and jeans.  Such a cool, casual vibe.  As far as the boots are concerned, I saw them at Marshalls over a year ago during the summer.  They were on clearance and I never forgave myself for neglecting to purchase them.  When I saw that they restocked them this Fall, I didn't mind paying full price because they are well worth it.   I was even more excited that I bought them when I did because when I went back a week later, they were sold out.  If something catches your eye, and you can afford it, treat yourself, don't cheat yourself.  Until next time...
