Tomatoes Please

So remember in this post when  I told you that I have a hard time finding red shirts?  Well, this must be the season or red is an upcoming Fall trend because I am coming across great ones at stores such as F21 and H&M.  When I saw the one I am currently wearing, I had to have it due to the lightweight, split/long hemline, gold button detailing, and most of all it's vibrant shade, which the tag labeled "tomato."  I can't wait to wear it under a blazer or with a pair of gray leopard jeans that I have.  Today, I paired it with my all-time favorite pair of jeans.  These jeans have been with me for approximately 2 years, which is pretty evident because WalMart no longer carries the Miley Cyrus line. If I a were given the choice to keep one pair out of my entire wardrobe, it would be these.  No matter how many times I wear them, the color never fades nor become loose and out of shape like some denim does after repeated washes.  Not to mention, a pair of dark denim skinny or straight leg jeans is a wardrobe staple.  You can pair them with a white button-down, statement necklace, and heels or flats and be the belle of the ball.  Lastly, If you follow me on Instagram (idreamoffashion12) you would know that I searched high and lo for these heels for almost a entire year.  I finally hit the jackpot when I was window shopping and saw them on display.  Miraculously, the only pair left were my size.  All I could say was, "it was meant to be."  Lol.  Somehow, us ladies can always justify the need for a new pair of heels.  Leave me a comment and let me know about an item of clothing that you have had forever and refuse to part ways.

Black & White Tuxedo

So in my last post, I told you guys that I was visiting Boston for the weekend.  Well, the trip was awesome and the vacay was over way too soon.  While it was my first time visiting Boston, it is definitely now on the list of my top five favorite places.  Downtown was bustling and the fashionistas did not disappoint.  The East Coast is edgy and definitely not afraid to dress outside of the box.  The best part about my trip was the fact that you pay NO sales tax for clothing in Massachusetts.  I was like a kid in a candy store after hearing this news.  I got some really good deals in addition to the lack of sales tax and can't wait to show you some of my new additions.  Until then, the outfit I'm wearing in this post is pretty simple.  I decided to wear a  tuxedo shirt with my trusted black, straight leg trousers that I like to roll up because I'm short and they somehow make me appear taller (it may just be in my head).  My favorite part about this outfit are the pointed toe pumps.  The pointed toe and patent leather on these babies would add a bit of spice to any outfit.  A year ago, I would have told you that pointed-toe shoes were a thing of the past.  Fast forward to now and I cant get enough of them.  I'm aiming for a pair of red suede ones that I recently saw in Aldo Shoes.  Is there anything that you wouldn't have imagined wearing in the past that you now can't get enough of?

Put It In Neutral

Have you ever stalked an item in a store because you wanted it, but didn't necessarily need it?  Well, this is what happened with these pants.  I really, really wanted them but didn't see the need to pay over $30 for a pair of taupe, zippered, elastic-waist pants.  Lol.  However, good things come to those who wait because they went on sale and along with my 35% off Facebook web-deal, I ended up paying a whopping $7 for these pants.  Now that's what I call a steal.  I decided to go low-key with the pants and wear a somewhat neutral palette because, honestly, I tried several different colors and/or patterned shirts and wasn't feeling any of the combos.  When all else fails, keep it simple, and accessorize.  As far as my handbag is concerned, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this Celine-inspired tote at Ross.  One thing I don't skimp on is a handbag but when I found this quality inspired by (knock-offs are a no-no) handbag, I had to have it.  This is another reason why I love Ross.  By the way, I saw a stylish young lady in Walmart today with the cognac version of my handbag.  She also found hers at Ross and while she wanted my black one, I was dying for her cognac color.  Us ladies are never satisfied.  Headed to Boston this weekend and looking forward to being inspired by Beantown's fashionistas.

Take Two...Jessica Biel

Rolling through one of my favorite sites The Look 4 Less and this outfit that Jessica Biel is wearing caught my eye.  It looks so clean-cut, casual, and comfortable.  The color navy has the ability to somewhat professionalize and tone down an outfit, which makes it perfect to balance out the green pants that I'm wearing, especially since I wore the outfit to work for casual Friday.  These jeans are the best, not only for the color, but because they are high-waisted. I don't know about you but I am not a fan of low-waisted jeans.  Not only are they uncomfortable but if you have any amount of extra tummy skin and are looking for some support, you won't get it.  High-waisted jeans give your body an overall slim, stream-lined look.  Top them off with some heels and you'll have it going on.  It was a no-brainer for me to recreate this outfit since I had all the pieces in my closet.  Again, as in this post, I switched out the animal print flats for my animal print heels, which I purchased strictly for the cognac detailing on the back of the heel.  What do you guys think about recreating others' outfits?  I think it's great.  Inspiration can come from magazines, television, and/or your co-workers.

All Tied Up

So I have a ton of blazers in different colors/patterns and had come to the conclusion that I wouldn't be able to wear them for a long time due to this intense Texas heat.  However, it finally clicked in my head that I can still wear them everyday, if I choose, because every building that you enter here is freezing cold.  Lol.  So what I plan on doing in the future forward is wearing them while I'm inside working and taking them off when I RUN to/from my vehicle.  Otherwise, I will only be able to wear my favorite piece of clothing a few months out of the year.  On to the pants...What attracted me to them is the color and material.  They are lightweight, comfortable, and the quality is amazing.  In person, they look as if they could have cost a pretty penny but I paid less than $20 for them.  Normally, if an item of clothing comes with a belt that is the same color, I change it up because I don't like to be too matchy-matchy.  However, I liked this belt because it made the outfit playful and classy ta the same time.  I initially styled the pants with a black/white bold print blouse, but thought the splash of orange was more interesting.  Oh yeah, one more thing...I usually take pictures in the evening but decided to switch it up and take them in the morning because it's much cooler.  However, I was in such a rush, that not only did I forget to put on my rings, but I sat my handbag on the ground and didn't remember to pick it back up until I was done taking pictures.  So that is why you don't see a handbag today. Are there any favorite color combos you guys are looking forward to wearing this summer or upcoming fall?

Will You Be My Boyfriend

Nowadays, jeans come in so many different styles/cuts that everyone should be able to find a pair that matches your style as well as compliments your body type.  Some of the most popular cuts are skinny, bootcut, straight, and boyfriend, which I am wearing today.  The term "boyfriend" is a reference to the cut being relaxed and baggy as if you slipped into a pair of your boyfriend's jeans out of his closet.  This style is very comfortable and can be worn with flats as well as heels because you can adjust the cuffs depending on your heel height.  It's the perfect pair for shopping because they're easy to slip on /off, without having to tug as one would with tighter fitting cuts.  I have two pair, a dark and lighter rinse.  I love this pair for it's rips, worn-in look, and especially the bleached color.  The more i wash them, the better they look. I searched high/low for this rinse and finally spotted them in Plato's Closet.  If you have not checked out this store, you are missing out.  I sell tons of items to them and quite often find cute pieces for myself.  They are located across the United States, so check them out in a city near you.  By the way, what are some of your favorite jean styles/cuts?

Take Two...Olivia Palermo

So, I have a few modern day fashionistas whose styles I think rock.  One of those ladies is Olivia Palermo.  For those who don't tune in to reality tv, she was one of the main stars of MTV's now defunct series, The City, which was a spin-off of their popular series The Hills.  I like Olivia's style because it appears effortless chic.  In my opinion, this means that although her outfits are always on point, it never appears as if she is trying too hard.  I can think of a few fashionistas in the celebrity world who always appear as if they have shopped straight off the mannequin.  While glancing through a magazine, I saw Olivia in one of her more casual, laid back outfits and realized that I had all of the elements to recreate the outfit in my closet.  While I didn't have the flat shoes, I still had heels in almost the exact same color and recreating an outfit does not mean all of the pieces need to be exactly alike.  It's "inspired by."  I love being inspired by fashionistas on the catwalk as well as the side walk.  My other two favorite fashionistas are Rachel Bilson and Kourtney Kardashian, the true fashionista of the Kardashian crew. I will continue to recreate fashion inspirations in upcoming blogs, whether it be from one of my fav celebrity fashionistas or other fellow bloggers.  Do you have any favorite individuals whose style gives you fashion inspiration?
