Sunny Days

Hello,

Anyone who knows me, knows that yellow has always been my favorite color.  How can a person walk around with an attitude or in a bad mood while wearing this color?  When wearing a bright color, I always try to pair it with a toned down or neutral color.  You don't want too may items competing with one another as it becomes one big, distracting smorgasbord of statement pieces.  Although these jeans have a leopard print, they are not competing with the shirt due to the grey, muted tone.  Once again I'm going with a peplum style shirt and a classic, quilted tote.  My dream bag is a quilted Chanel bag but of course, this will remain a dream for some time because those bags costs a pretty penny.  I'll get it one of these days.  Until then, I think this version from Love Culture is a great alternative.  It can be carried as a shoulder bag or clutch.  Black pumps and a statement necklace complete the outfit.  If you wake up on the wrong side of the bed, try to incorporate a pop of color in your outfit for the day.  I guarantee you will feel much better.  Until next time...

Gingham Girl

Hello,

I love gingham shirts because they can easily transition from casual to dressy and vice-versa.  I like them even more if the material has a bit of stretch to it because the fit is much better and accentuates your frame.  I used to have a beautiful yellow gingham shirt in my wardrobe and for some strange reason, decided to get rid of it while in the midst of moving.  Although I'm sure it was out of the frustration of packing, I really do miss that shirt.  Prior to my going to Boston, I had not worn this denim vest in a very long time.  I'm not sure why but I now have a new found love for it.  Somehow, it manages to give a little edge to whatever outfit I am wearing.  The stud detailing on the collar toughens up the shirt and pants, which are more conservative pieces.  You can get away with this type of edgy/conservative combo in some work environments.  If you are looking for denim vest or jacket, there are tons in Forever 21, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and many other stores as they are hot items for the upcoming Fall season, although you can wear them year-round. Yhey are great layering pieces.  Do you guys own any gingham shirts and if so, what color(s)?

A Little Bit of Peplum

Hello,

So I have had this skirt for over 2 years, before peplums became all the rage and I even knew what these cute little ruffles were called.  Glad I didn't throw it out.  I clean out my closet at least every 3-4 months and am quick to throw away an item only to regret it a few months later.  I justify buying new items by giving things away or selling them to places like Plato's Closet.  Speaking of Plato's Closet, I sold a ton of shoes to them two days ago and, in my opinion, I got ripped the heck off like never before.  Lol.  Oh well, better to get something than nothing.  As you can see in the pics, I have on a belt in some and not in others.  Toward the end of my pics, i realized I didn't have on the belt I had previously chose and was too lazy to go back in the house to get it.  In the past, I have worn this skirt without a belt but for some reason now, I don't think it looks right without one.  I had the belt I am wearing in my purse and although it is ok, I really don't like it with the skirt at all.  It's too thin.  I know most of my previous posts have been in pants or shorts, however, I would prefer to wear a dress or skirt any day.  Oh yeah, I am wearing another one of my watch bands that I talked about in this post.  It's like having 5 watches for the price of one.  Thanks for checking out the blog and stay tuned  for the next outfit post.

Seersucker Saturday and 2012 Dallas Chic Fest

Hello,

This past Saturday Dallas finally experienced a much needed cool down.  However, the wind was pretty fierce.  That coupled with losing my sunglasses equalled pictures of me squinting and my hair all over the place.  As such, most of these pics will be from the neck down but I'm sure that's okay because you're here for the fashion, right?  Since I'm fairly new to Dallas, I am making it my business to attend any events that spark my interest.  On Saturday I had the pleasure of attending the 2012 Dallas Chic Fest, which focused on fashion, shopping, and musical entertainment.  One of my favorite fashion bloggers, Ivonne Stacy of Ivonne Stacy Style, was on hand to give all the fashionistas, fashionable tips.  I was happy to meet her and she is even more beautiful in person.  If you have an opportunity, be sure to check out her blog.  I must say, this past week was pretty busy but my attendance at FNO and Dallas Chic Fest left me feeling fashionably recharged for the upcoming week.

Oh yeah, about the outfit...I stumbled upon these seersucker shorts on clearance at Forever 21 and had to have them.  Seersucker material, in my opinion, is a timeless spring/summer staple that will never go out of style. However, my favorite part of the outfit is my new watch from Aldo, which is one of my go to spots for cute, unique timepieces.  This one came with 5 other beautiful bands that I can't wait to sport.  If you are looking for a new watch and don't want to break the bank, check out Aldo Shoes.  Until next time, have a good week you guys.

Dallas Fashion Night Out 2012

Hello,

I must say, I had a fabulous time at Fashion Night Out 2012 at the Dallas Galleria.  The models as well as the attendees were fierce and I was fashionably inspired.  Dallas has some true fashionistas and they made me proud.  I think the biggest surprise of the night was how modern, classy, and sassy Ann Taylor's clothing has become.  I have never paid them too much attention but after last night, I'll be giving them a second glance.  Below is the outfit I wore and a few snapshots of some of the attendees whose outfits caught my eye.  There were many more fashionistas but I couldn't snap them all because I wanted to enjoy the show.  This was my first time attending Fashion Night Out but it definitely won't be my last.  If you have an opportunity next year, check out FNO in a major city near you.

Tomatoes Please

Hello,

So remember in this post when  I told you that I have a hard time finding red shirts?  Well, this must be the season or red is an upcoming Fall trend because I am coming across great ones at stores such as F21 and H&M.  When I saw the one I am currently wearing, I had to have it due to the lightweight, split/long hemline, gold button detailing, and most of all it's vibrant shade, which the tag labeled "tomato."  I can't wait to wear it under a blazer or with a pair of gray leopard jeans that I have.  Today, I paired it with my all-time favorite pair of jeans.  These jeans have been with me for approximately 2 years, which is pretty evident because WalMart no longer carries the Miley Cyrus line. If I a were given the choice to keep one pair out of my entire wardrobe, it would be these.  No matter how many times I wear them, the color never fades nor become loose and out of shape like some denim does after repeated washes.  Not to mention, a pair of dark denim skinny or straight leg jeans is a wardrobe staple.  You can pair them with a white button-down, statement necklace, and heels or flats and be the belle of the ball.  Lastly, If you follow me on Instagram (idreamoffashion12) you would know that I searched high and lo for these heels for almost a entire year.  I finally hit the jackpot when I was window shopping and saw them on display.  Miraculously, the only pair left were my size.  All I could say was, "it was meant to be."  Lol.  Somehow, us ladies can always justify the need for a new pair of heels.  Leave me a comment and let me know about an item of clothing that you have had forever and refuse to part ways.
